Allora leggete attentamente...se non potete compostare come spiegato il mese scorso perche magari non avete un giardino allora la soluzione ideale per tutti sono i lombrichi. Loro mangiano i nostri scarti alimentari e producono quello che è solitamente chiamato "oro nero" perche l'humus prodotto è un fertilizzante naturale molto potente. Perciò il lombrico, non dà fastidio, mangia, e si riproduce, dovete solo cibarlo con i vostri scarti alimentari, perciò non vi costa nulla! In cambio loro, vi daranno dell'ottimo fertilizzante dopo circa 2-3 mesi, ideale per le vostre piante e il vostro orto e se vi avanza potete sempre regalarlo ad amici o metterlo nei parchi come nutrimento delle piante.
Ora sono sicura che li volete ma vi state domandando dove tenerli allora ecco alcune soluzioni. L'unica azienda che ho trovato che vende dei kit già pronti in Italia è La Fattoria dei Lombrichi, in Inghilterra si trovono molti altri modelli su altri siti.
Ora che avete visto quanto costano posso dirvi che potete costruirne uno con pocchi soldi o con materiale di scarto. Generalmente basta una scatola scura, perche non amano la luce, con dei buchi e un vassoio sotto per recuperare il liquido che producono, il quale è un ottimo fertilizzante liquido da usare diluito. Basterà mettere della carta da giornale strappata nel fondo, una bella manciata di terriccio e dei scarti di cibo tutto leggermente innumidito con i lombrichi. Questo video vi farà vedere come farne uno.
I lombrichi amano un ambiente umido ma non troppo bagnato.
Potete trovare i lombrichi rossi nei negozi per la pesca se fate un kit fai da te.
Non amano le cipolle ne il limone perciò evitate questi due alimenti.
Ora potete tenere i vostri lombrichi nel garage, sul terrazo, in cantina ovvunque pensiate sia comodo per voi. Loro non vogliono ne il sole ne acqua, se stanno bene non scapperanno! Vi resta solo di preparate il vostro humus per la primavera!

Well read carefully...if you cannot compost as explained last month because maybe you don't have a garden so here is the ideal solution are worms. They eat food waste and produce what is usually called "black gold" because the humus they make is a super natural fertiliser. Therefore worms, are not a big problem, they eat and reproduce, you just need to feed them with your food waste, so no costs for you! They will give you an excellent fertiliser after 2-3 months, ideal for your house plants, your vegetable patch and if you ahve extra humus give it to your friends or fertilise your local park.
Now I am sure that you want them but you are asking yourself where to keep them, so here are a few solutions. There are many kits ready to be used companie such as this one or this other model.
Now that you saw how much they cost you must know that you can make your own with simple cheap material. Generally you only need a dark box, as worms don't like the light, with a few holes and a tray underneeth to recuperate the liquid they produce which is a liquid fertiliser to use deluted. Now put newspaper, a bit of soil and some food scrap and keep it slightly humid and add your worms. This video will show you how to make it.
Worms love a humid environment but not too wet.
You can find red worms, which are the best, in fishing shops or online if you make a home made kit.
Worms don't like onions nor lemons so please avoid these scraps.
Now you can keep your worms in your garage, your cellar or your terrace, anyplace which is convenient for you. They don't wnat nor water nor sun, as if they are not comfortable they will escape and dye! Now start prepsring your humus for the spring!
