Il documentario (purtroppo l'ho trovato solo in inglese) River of Waste, spiega come un fiume è stato completamente inquinato dalle fattorie intensive negli Stati Uniti. Questo inquinamento è dovuto ai rifiuti animali delle fattorie, prevalentemente dalle sostanze chimiche date agli animali stessi.
River of Waste spiega l'evoluzione delle industrie alimentari intensive e le conseguenze per la fauna del fiume, ma anche per la salute dell'uomo che ci vive.
Molti scienziati hanno dimostrato che gli effetti sulla vita dell'uomo sono comparabili agli effetti di una mini Chernobyl (problemi alla cute, agli occhi, all'apparato respiratorio ma anche neurologici).
Come fa una nazione ad ignorare delle pratiche che danneggiano i propri cittadini?

Il documentario analizza sia l'uso dei antibiotici per l'uomo e sopra tutto sui animali i quali sono diventati immuni a molte sostanze. L'aumento di ormoni nelle carni and il grande numero di carcasse e dei escrementi nelle acqua e nelle fogne hanno reso le acque pericolose ma anche l'aria e la terra!
